Adrian Turner has more than 15 years of international business experience. Prior to founding Mocana, Adrian was responsible for West Coast Business Development and Alliances for Kenamea, an enterprise communication firm specializing in reliable, secure communications. He also had P&L responsibility for developing infrastructure to support Philips Electronics' (NYSE:PHG) connected consumer and business devices. Prior to that in 1996, Adrian launched the world's first network of 225 coin operated Internet kiosks in the Australian market. Adrian holds a business degree in Marketing and Finance from the University of Technology in Sydney Australia and has completed the Executive Program for Managing Growth Companies at Stanford University. Adrian is also Chairman of Australia's leading international expatriate network, Advance (http://www.advance.org/). James Blaisdell - Director, CTOJames Blaisdell is an embedded system device management and enterprise communications expert. Recently, James held the role of Principal Engineer of the handheld group Kenamea, an enterprise communication firm specializing in reliable, secure communications. Prior to Kenamea, James was founder and chief technology officer at RapidLogic, Inc, a company leading in device management for embedded systems. James conceived, developed and led several key RapidLogic products. These products are RapidControl Backplane (the first unified object management database), RapidControl for Web (web-based management system), RapidControl for CLI (Cisco Craft Interface), and MIBway (Legacy SNMP interface). RapidLogic ranked the fifth fastest growing organization in the San Francisco Bay Area and was acquired by WindRiver Systems in the fall of 2000. At WindRiver, James led the architecture and design for WindManage, a 2002 InterOp best-of-show finalist. James also consulted with Nortel Networks, Cisco Systems, RedBack Networks, Tut Systems, PairGain, Brocade Communications, and other leading network and telecom companies on their embedded systems offerings. Randy Risher - Senior Vice President, Business DevelopmentRandy Risher is Mocana's Senior Vice President of Business Development. Previously, Randy was Director of Channel Sales for BEA Systems, Inc (NASD: BEAS). and was responsible for major OEM and ISV relationships on the west coast. Randy played a significant role in the development of a very successful channel business at BEA with a run rate of approximately $50m before he left. Randy came to BEA through the acquisition of WebLogic, where he was Director of Finance and Operations and was responsible for Finance & Accounting, MIS, Human Resources and Legal and was an integral part in the development of WebLogics channel strategy. Earlier in his career, Randy ran the financial planning department for Sega of America and was a CPA with Coopers & Lybrand. Robert Dunn - CFORobert Dunn has over seventeen years of experience working in the software and technology sector in various finance and administrative positions. Rob has held positions with the US Department of Defense, in the Defense Contract Audit Agency, Quintus Corporation, WebLogic/BEA Systems, and CrossCommerce. Most recently, he served as the Vice President of Finance at Gauntlet Systems Corporation, which was acquired by Borland in January of 2006. Rob holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado and a Masters in Economics (a.b.t.) from Colorado State University. He is a Certified Management Accountant. Kurt Stammberger - Vice President MarketingKurt Stammberger has spent most of his career marketing and selling security
technologies, and has over 18 years of experience in the industry. He joined
cryptography startup RSA Security as employee #7, where he led their
marketing organization for eight years, helped launch spin-off company
VeriSign, and created the brand for the technology that now protects
virtually every electronic commerce transaction on the planet. Kurt founded
and still serves on the Board of the annual RSA Conference, the world's largest gathering of computer security professionals, which draws over
25,000 people to events in the United States, Europe and Japan. He founded
Coda Creative, an award-winning technology marketing firm that focused on
security startups, and served as VP of Content & Services for consumer
healthcare startup Vimo.com. Rob Coneybeer - Shasta VenturesRob Coneybeer brings to Shasta Ventures deep experience in building early-stage companies. Prior to co-founding Shasta Ventures, he was a general partner at New Enterprise Associates (NEA) where he led 15 investments in core infrastructure technologies spanning semiconductors, software and networking equipment. Prior to joining the venture capital industry, Rob served as a lead integration and test engineer in the Astro Space division of Martin Marietta. While at Martin Marietta, Rob helped build the first EchoStar spacecraft. Steve Friedman currently advises select early-stage companies in the areas of go-to-market strategy, product positioning, business development and executive recruitment. Steve has been working closely with Mocana since inception. He has close to 20 years experience in sales and business development. Prior to his current role, Steve was senior vice president of sales and alliances at Kenamea, a provider of Web messaging software and services. Prior to Kenamea, Steve served as BEA Systems' vice president, Channels, Americas. In this position, he was instrumental in growing the indirect channels business from a $25m to a $100m run rate and in implementing a comprehensive indirect channels program with the leading OEMs, ISVs and systems integrators. Steve came to BEA through
the acquisition of WebLogic, where he built and co-managed
the field sales organization, increasing revenues from
$200 thousand to over $100 million in two years. Earlier
in his career, Steve held key sales executive and business
development positions with leading Enterprise Software
firms such as Scopus Technology, Verity, Neuron Data,
and Bachman Information Systems. Dr Larry Marshall is a Managing Director of Southern Cross Venture Partners, based in the Palo Alto office. Previously he has founded or co-founded 6 successful companies in the laser/optical, semiconductor, and medical sectors, all of which have created exit events for investors, including 2 IPOs. Most recently he was co-Chairman of Arasor, a developer and manufacturer of integrated optical and wireless solutions. James Reeves is a network-industry veteran with over 20 years of technical and managerial experience in engineering. James was Vice President of Engineering for enterprise security and routing products at Nortel Networks, where he led the development of high-performance multiprotocol routers, network security software and appliances, wireless LANs and content caching products. He began his career at AMD as a senior field applications engineer and then continued on to SynOptics Communications, which became Bay Networks and later Nortel Networks. James holds a BSEE technology degree from Cogswell Polytechnical College in San Francisco. Guru ParulkarGuru Parulkar has been in the field of networking for close to twenty years and has worked in academia, start-ups, large corporations and a top-tier venture capital firm. He joined the National Science Foundation (NSF) as a member of its then new Computer and Network Systems division in October, 2003. At NSF, Parulkar focuses on the Network of Sensorial Embedded Systems and on NSF's initiative called GENI, which is enabling a reinvention of the Internet. This summer when Parulkar's four year term ends at NSF, he will join Stanford University as executive director of a new program called Clean Slate Design of the Internet which will focus on transforming the current Internet into a unified, global communication infrastructure for the 21st century. The Clean Slate Design initiative is targeting an internet infrastructure that will scale, accommodate further technologies and of which security is at its core.
