VOIPSA Adds Thought Leader to Help Develop Industry Standards for VoIP Security Risks
MENLO PARK,
CA July 6, 2005 Mocana Corporation, a developer of low-latency
security solutions for voice, video and data networks, today announced
it has accepted an invitation to join the Voice over IP Security
Alliance (VOIPSA) and to serve as a member of its Technical Board
of Advisors. The VOIPSA Technical Board of Advisors is comprised
of a wide spectrum of distinguished VoIP vendors, VoIP providers,
security researchers, and thought leaders who provide vision and
strategic direction to help organizations detect and decrease
VoIP security risks.
With the growing
convergence of voice and data network deployments, there
is an increasing number of non-traditional cyber attacks
taking place. As hackers become more sophisticated and familiar
with VOIP applications, the rise in attacks will only continue
to grow. VOIPSA will help mitigate the risks and attacks
by promoting VoIP security education, research and awareness
as well as providing public access to VoIP testing methodologies
and tools.
"We are excited to be
a part of VOIPSA, an organization we feel will play a key
and dynamic role in developing solutions to meet the security
requirements of the VoIP industry," said Adrian Turner,
Mocana Chief Executive Officer. "Although the VoIP
market is quickly growing, it is still a maturing technology
space. We feel that working with other industry leaders
and fellow members of VOIPSA will help companies like ours
develop and provide more effective technologies for our
customers."
The VoIP Security Alliance
(VOIPSA) is a vendor-neutral organization made up of VoIP
and information security companies and organizations. VOIPSA
is dedicated to helping organizations understand and avoid
VoIP security risks through sponsorship of VoIP security

development of tools and methodologies for public use.
