Mobile Broadband Subscriptions Expected to Skyrocket to 1 Billion This Year
Thanks to the increasing use of popular technologies such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, and mobile Internet applications, the adoption of mobile broadband services will double in 2011.
Ericsson, the world’s leading provider of products and services to telecom operators, foretells that this global trend is just at the beginning of a high streak, and that mobile broadband will only continue to expand at a fast pace.
In fact, TechCrunch reports that,
By 2015, Ericsson believes mobile broadband subscriptions will top 3.8 billion, with 95 percent driven by HSPA, CDMA and LTE networks.
According to Ericsson, the highest concentration of mobile broadband subscriptions will center in Asia, followed by North America and Western Europe. Mobile data traffic, overall, is on a rapid rise, and the company announced that theirs had tripled in one year.
