It is estimated that more than 1 million automation systems will be installed in North American homes in 2012. This is three times the number installed in 2008 and it is estimated to double again by 2014. Much of this home automation and monitoring technology is coming from traditional telecom, broadband, and security companies who are bringing the latest technology to their existing products and customers.
