Though still relatively new, the technology sector known as Body Area Networks (BANs) is developing rapidly, with major government and corporate players -- such as the FCC and GE -- currently working on projects to further sensor networks that monitor the human body and wirelessly transmit data to healthcare professionals. The possible applications extend far beyond remote doctor/patient communications and include military and sports contexts. Unfortunately, security issues aren’t yet seriously on the table.
