Amazon Might Acquire TIs Mobile Chip Business

Sources say Amazon maybe be close to acquiring Texas Instruments’ OMAP chip division, giving the company in-house design capabilities for its upcoming Kindle-line of products. Previously, DeviceLine reported on Amazon's rumored line of mobile phones.

The Israeli site Calcalist says that TI has been open about getting rid of its OMAP division. If Amazon is to become the owner, this could make Barnes & Noble particularly vulnerable since its Nook line of products also uses OMAP chips.
