DeviceLine Radio: Holger Reinhardt On Mobile And The Internet Of Things

June 25, 2014

My guest this week is Holger Reinhardt. He is a Senior Software Architect at Layer 7 technologies, and has over 16 years of software development experience in telecom and SOA appliances. He's based in Germany, and I spoke with him via phone about mobile security and the Internet of Things. The European Commission white paper on Internet of Things Privacy mentioned within the show can be found here.

But the conversation starts out by asking about his experiences at the Mobile World Congress held recently in Barcelona, Spain at roughly the same time as the RSA Conference 2013 in San Francisco, CA. Specifically, did he find there was a greater emphasis on mobile security at the conference this year? Holger did mention the concern from some of the carriers he spoke to about mobile malware blocking the signal to the base station, and how thinking about the Internet of Things, this could mean more than just not being able to make a phone call. It might also mean a loss of power or healthcare information.

You can hear the full conversation, along with a recap of this week’s news here.
