Is Skype Vulnerable To Eavesdropping?

A Russian language newspaper claims that the Russian government can spy on Skype conversations, and has had that ability for years.

The paper, Vedomosti Skype traditionally has used peer-to-peer 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard between hosts without a central server. But with the purchase of the server by Microsoft, it is now possible to set up a central server that stores the keys and thus allow a third party to access the encrypted conversation. The executive director of payments provider Peak Systems, Maxim Emm, told the newspaper that Microsoft has provided this service to be used for legitimate wiretapping around the world.
