Seeing real-time traffic data on the news or on your phone can save time on your daily commute. But what if that data was wrong?

In a presentation at Black Hat Europe 2013, researcher Tobias Jeske, a doctoral student at the Institute for Security in Distributed Applications of the Hamburg University of Technology, showed how just about anyone can manipulate the data. “You don’t need special equipment for this and you can manipulate traffic data worldwide,” Jeske said.
