Researchers have found new materials that can switch between two states, which represent the 1’s and 0’s of binary language by physically rearranging their atoms into different phases on a nanowire.

In Philadelphia, researchers Ritesh Agarwal and A.T. Charlie Johnson from the University of Pennsylvania along with Ju Li of MIT have found phase change materials, or PCMs, to be the ideal candidates for universal memory.
