Major Automakers Rolling Out New Smartphone Apps
We've posted before about recent developments in connected, "smartcar" technology. And a recent BusinessWeek article points out the latest happenings in this developing sector of the Internet of Things.
In addition to describing new car-connected smartphone apps from BMW, Ford, Nissan and GM -- whose new app works with the existing OnStar system to allow drivers to start their cars and check tire pressure using their Android or iPhone handsets -- the article also mentions the incredible pace at which this technology is being adopted. According to BusinessWeek, "The number of global users of automotive apps may rise to more than 28 million in 2015, from 1.4 million in 2010."
