Report: Obama To Compromise On Cybersecurity Executive Order
Apparently President Obama is prepared to compromise on a executive order related to the Cybersecurty Act of 2012.
According to NetworkWorld there's a draft circulating in Washington D.C. In it, only companies that relate to critical infrastructure (ie. energy companies or transportation) would have to share consumer information with the Federal government. Social media companies would be exempt.
Another change would have DHS, not the NSA, operating a private network that would report stripped down summaries of top secret intelligence reports.
Last month, Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) joined Senator Dianne Fienstein (D-CA) in calling upon President Obama to issue an executive order. No Republicans have endorsed the need for such an executive order.
