Juniper Predicts Mobile Data To Exceed 90,000 Petabytes by 2017

With mobile devices in the hands of millions, how much data is being created? How about more than 90,000 Petabytes.

According to a new Juniper Research study, that figure will be reached within the next four years. With that comes concerns about storage and transmission, the usual security concerns of data at rest and data in motion. A lot of that data will be person--photos and video captured with a mobile device. But an equal amount will be work-related information as Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD) takes off.

The report, Mobile Data Offload & Onload, also forecasts the growth of wi-fi and small cell networks and data from individual countries.
